A Pagani Zonda is never shy of a drive at the racetrack, a fact that was undermined numerous times in the past with records for production vehicles at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. With the input of its avid track focused customers, the Pagani team has created the Zonda R using bespoke engineering solutions to meet the performance demands for a trackday version of the highly popular Zonda F.

The central monocoque is made of a Carbon-Titanium composite, increasing rigidity while reducing significantly the weight. Bolted directly to the chassis is the Mercedes AMG 6.0 litre race derived V12 engine, with 750 hp and 710 Nm of torque. A direct throttle actuation via mechanical cable ensures immediate throttle response.

The Xtrac Magnesium cased dog ring gearbox combined with tha Automac Engineering AMT system performs gearshifts in 20ms, triggered by the drivers input on the paddles behind the steering wheel. A 12-way Bosch Motorsport traction control and ABS system allows the driver to fully adjust the settings while driving the Zonda R.

The great success achieved by the Zonda in the different proposed versions is recognized all over the world. This car has already become an icon and allowed
such a small company to prove its qualities.

The Pagani is not just a supercar manufacturer but rather a place where artistic objects take form following the renowned car tradition of Modena and the Renaissance concepts of art and science combined together by Leonardo Da Vinci over 500 years ago. Back in 1999, launch year of the first Zonda, the Pagani has been focusing its strategies on the research of light weight. The chassis, completely made of composite and other light and innovative materials, contained the weight to 1250 kilos, when all the other cars of the same segment would weight from 30 to 50% more. Despite of the light weight, the Zonda offered excellent comfort and safety standards. By chance, the impact on environment, as for example the fuel consumption, proved to be considerably lower than the traditional supercars and coupes of the same range, with weight from 1.800 kilos to 2.200 kilos.

The Zonda was the first example of a car manufacturer to reach such a high level in the employment of advanced composite materials, which compose the structure of the car and guarantee a stronger resistance than any traditional chassis. In order to understand the difference given by a chassis completely built in carbon fiber, just look at modern F1 cars which use this solution and the F1 cars built in the 80s.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the “Frecce Tricolori”, Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.

In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, wich will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport (info: www.aeronautica.difesa.it).

The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine. They were formed in 1961
as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world).

The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.
