A Pink and Purple Trailer to Call Home
The size of mobile homes and trailers vary from very small to those that are as spacious as a small house. However, as a general rule, decorating a trailer requires some special techniques to maximize the living space. One effective decorating method to use involves using color as the primary decorating tool. Not only can color help to create a coordinated look, but using color as opposed to many different decorating accent pieces can maximize the living space and make the rooms look larger.
Blending Rooms Together with Color
Many times the rooms within a trailer are designed so that they flow smoothly into each other. Because of this room layout, you can create the illusion of more space by using the same color families in adjoining rooms, making the rooms appear to be more spacious. This is because the eye will pick up on the coordinating color and visually combine the smaller rooms into one larger living area. Although there are many different color combinations from which to choose when decorating a trailer, using pink and purple can create a very modern, fresh and often surprising look.
Using Pink and Purple in the Kitchen
Although pink has traditionally been thought of as a color best suited for girls' bedrooms and bathrooms, it is actually a great color to use in many different rooms in the home. For example, in the kitchen, pink can add a fresh and cheerful look. Because of the fact that the color pink has become associated with the fight against breast cancer, it is now easy to find kitchen accessories and even small appliances in this color. A kitchen painted in a fresh white or off-white shade can be combined with pink appliances on the countertops and a rack of cheerful pink kitchen accessories. Or, go all out and paint the wall a cheerful shade of pink as well.
Pink in the Living and Dining Room
If you've used pink for the kitchen, you can then flow this color into the next adjoining room, such as the dining room or living room. In these areas, you might want to change the color palette a bit towards deeper and richer shades of pink, such as using a mauve tablecloth or burgundy furniture. Then, add bright accents in shades of light pink, such as an arrangement of pink throw pillows on the sofa, a pink and white tapestry throw, or an arrangement of pink flowers on the dining room table. Using a wallpaper border around the top edge of the room that incorporates pink shades is also a great way of using the color.
Purple in Bedrooms and the Bath
Moving into the bedrooms, you can blend shades of purple into your decorating scheme. Purple comes in a wide variety of shades, including subtle lavenders, muted plum shades, and regal purples. These colors can often be especially effective when decorating a bedroom, as they are equally useful for feminine as well as masculine decorating schemes. Shades of purple can also be used in the bathroom to create a designer look. Try adding a basket of rolled towels in shades of muted purple, combined with a floral arrangement. On the walls, add a few framed art prints that incorporate shades of purple. Using a neutral shade on the walls can help keep the color from becoming too overwhelming in a small space.
